proHolz Student Trophy 24 | special prize Project REUP
The entire ITI team congratulates Valentin Donath, Sarah Heuser, and Elisa Knemeyer on their project REUP and the special prize at the proHolz Student Trophy 24.
The supervision was carried out by Peter Bauer, Alireza Fadai, and Bernhard Holletschek within the course framework.
REUSE as a Design Element
The REUP project places the theme of the circular economy at the center of its considerations. The authors first carefully go through the building and see which building materials they can incorporate into their design. They move the cast-iron steel structure of the courtyard roof to the roof and use it as a community space. The existing roof serves as lost formwork. Although the design appears somewhat small-scale and not fully mature in terms of design and function, it is a refreshing contribution to dealing with the existing structure. REUP addresses an important future topic and shows that the reuse of materials will also change the planning process and architecture.
