Design Icons Reloaded
The development of sustainable and modern load-bearing structures requires completely new interdisciplinary approaches as well as advanced fabrication methods. Related disciplines such as bionics, mechatronics, robotics, VR & AR, and many more can be placed in a completely new context and provide completely new approaches for research.
"Logic of Structure" takes an in-depth look at the most current structural design methods. The fundamentals of structural engineering acquired in the bachelor's degree are to be taken up and successively expanded for state-of-the-art applications in architecture. The focus is on learning interdisciplinary ways of thinking, in which the supporting structure and architecture represent integrative parts of an overall design. By learning and applying parametric design tools, the boundaries of both disciplines blur into a universal view. This ensures that structural design is understood as an essential part of the design process.
After completing the module, students will be able to derive principles from nature and translate them into real-world applications of architecture or structural design. In addition to an integral approach, advanced parametric programming skills are taught.
