SMART-Living Vienna
The goal of the Design Studio is to develop combinable building elements that form a modular construction system with the aim of building flexible SMART housing. The focus is on the potential of industrial prefabrication of building elements to optimize construction costs and construction time.
The following assumptions are made:
1. Prefabrication can reduce emissions (dust, noise, etc.) and thus disruption to neighbors near the construction site.
2. Modern prefabrication enables serial production of flexible elements that can be customized as needed with little production effort.
3. Sustainable building concepts such as customization, demountability, recovery and reuse of components and materials, and recyclability are also goals.
Compliance with building physics requirements for the design of SMART dwellings of different types and sizes, and the combination of a limited catalog of constructive elements to make this possible, are important aspects considered in this design studio.
